The year 2022 may be behind us, but it has left a fashion legacy of bridal trends that will continue to dominate in the year ahead, thanks to some big ticket celebrity weddings and some fabulous famous brides. From wedding mini dresses and a more-is-more approach to tulle, here are seven wedding dress styles to put on your 2023 wedding mood board and the celeb brides that inspired them.

The most anticipated celebrity wedding of 2022 was surely that of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Twenty years on from their first engagement, the two tied the knot twice—first with an elopement in Las Vegas, then with a massive weekend bash at Affleck’s Georgia estate. As expected, JLo’s fashion story was an epic one: three custom Ralph Lauren wedding dresses, every one of them pure glamour. It’s her ceremony dress with its dramatic high neckline, open back, tiny flutter sleeves and cascading tulle skirt that we’ll be seeing a lot of riffs on this year—consider this silhouette a new classic.
Say Yes to the Dress star Randy Fenoli has dropped his latest bridal wear collection, Devotion, and the mood is modern romance. We love the Demi dress, which pairs a sophisticated high neckline with an illusion lace bodice and a swishy A-line skirt.

The tennis all-star had a luxurious New Year’s Day wedding at the tony St. Regis Bal Harbor and pulled out all the stops for her day, which was filled with OTT decor and florals. Her fashion choice also fit the extravagant bill and put elaborate ball gowns back on the fashion charts. Stephens’s custom Galia Lahav lace and hand-embellished dress featured a plunging v-neckline, voluminous skirting, trailing cathedral train, and a matching cape. This look is all about drama, which is absolutely on point for wedding styles this year.
The Kent ball gown by Anne Barge features a detachable ruffled tulle train, which makes it the perfect two-in-one dress. The plunging neckline and dramatic back of this silk faille dress make this minimalist gown shine.

When Selling Sunset star Vanessa Villela married photographer Nicholas Hardy last autumn, she also chose an exquisite Galia Lahav ball gown. The strapless dress had one of the most fashionable features that bridal designers are particularly loving now: a corset bodice. It’s the perfect way to channel an ’80s glam vibe in an alluring dress that’s red carpet inspired.
The heavenly Nirvana gown by Galia Lahav is an absolute dream. There are so many divine details: the corset bodice, bow-tied straps, hand-crafted floral details and swirls of tulle skirting. The dreamiest!

This wedding quietly came at the end of the year and what a massive style story it was. The year’s second iconic Ralph Lauren bride was Naomi Biden, granddaughter of U.S. president Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, who married Peter Neal in November. Taking a style cue from the legendary 1956 dress of Grace Kelly, Biden’s Chantilly-lace long-sleeved gown brought a mood of elevated elegance and old-world romance back to the bridal fashion space. This is a style vibe we love to see and is massively trending for 2023.
Designer Monique Lhuillier always delivers the most breathtaking wedding dresses, and the Angelina gown and jacket perfectly hit the mark when it comes to luxe lace bridal stylings. Pair with a lace-trimmed mantilla style veil for a royal-worthy look.

We talked about the major mini dress trend this past summer, and it’s on track to remain an essential bridal fashion choice for the foreseeable future. When Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker hosted their big bash destination wedding in Italy, the bride rocked an alluring Dolce & Gabbana lingerie-inspired mini, and one of the best things about the look was how she played with perspective: tiny, short dress, uber-long veil. So many designers are having fun playing with the mini and reinventing it in fresh, super-chic ways. It’s the perfect fashion choice for a second dress, or a primary one just like Kardashian’s.
We love the lingerie-inspired elements of this mini wedding dress from the 2023 Vera Wang Bride collection. The crystal-dotted illusion overlay skirt and gloves give this look some added dazzle.

The high skirt slit is here to stay as a top bridal wear trend, and what we love about this one is that it can be incorporated into every style of dress, from slinky slip sheaths to ball gowns, and can be as subtle—revealing just a little knee—or dramatic as you like. When Taylor Dome married Twilight star Taylor Lautner, she wore an ethereal beaded lace wedding dress with cap sleeves and sweetheart neckline, a traditional gown but with an alluring and unexpected twist thanks to a leg-bearing slit. A dress that’s equal parts sweetness and sass is a fashion-forward style choice.
We love this goddess gown from Justin Alexander Signature for its simplicity and statement-making details: dramatic, floral-detailed drop sleeves, corset bodice, revealing skirt slit and flattering column silhouette.

Consider 2023 the year of tulle. The ethereal fabric is a favourite choice of designers, who are using it to create incredible movement, lightness and texture in wedding dresses. A celebrity who recently embraced the trend and wore it so well: Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder. She married Beau Clark in a dream of a day last summer in Rome wearing the iconic Galia Lahav Magnolia dress (it’s now discontinued but can be yours via special order). The A-line dress is made entirely of tulle and featured breezy off-the-shoulder sleeves and sheer, voluminous skirting.
It’s the inflated tulle lantern sleeves for us! They’re just one of the incredible standouts of this Galia Lahav A-line dress, which also features must-have cutout details and embroidered lace embellishments.

I always love to hear the backstory of what a bridal wear designer wears for her wedding day, and I had a chance to chat this very subject with designer Savannah Miller on a recent episode of my podcast, Aisle Seat. Miller married James Whewell on December 9 last year, in a magical, sparkly pre-Christmas celebration that fully leaned into the season. The party was all shimmer and shine, from the delicate gold…
